Case Study of the Week: Recommending Amenities and Services

You are to assume the role of a hospitality consultant. You have been hired by the president of Skyward Airlines, to recommend amenities and services for a new hotel being built exclusively for Skyward employees.

Skyward Airlines is one of the nation’s top three airlines and its hub is located in a large city. The airline employs over 100,000 staff in various capacities. Multiple times throughout the year, different groups of Skyward employees are called upon to meet in person for meetings, training and special events.

Skyward is about to begin plans for a 600-room hotel on the headquarters campus property that will be used exclusively for employees. Executives have no current plans to allow the property to be used for any outside engagements. Executives know that the property must have 600 guest rooms, a mix of kings and doubles, a variety of suites and a meeting space.

In addition to sleeping rooms and meeting space, the president of Skyward Airlines would like your recommendations on amenities and services to offer at the airline’s campus hotel. The president wants to ensure that Skyward employees desire to stay at the campus hotel and are not simply forced to stay there. The president also wants you to explain how your recommendations will foster positive working relationships among Skyward employees.
