Sports and Entertainment Marketing

You are the promotional director for Shony Pictures Animation, an animation studio owned by Shony Pictures Entertainment. Shony Pictures Animation was founded in 2002 and has produced high-quality animated films for theatrical release or for partnering streaming services.

In 2021, Shony Pictures Animation made an animated movie for $100 million, K-pop Slayer. Executives met with the leading streaming service, FLIX, and sold the rights to the movie. The deal guaranteed Shony Pictures Animation $20 million in profit, but FLIX would own the property. In 2021, the K-pop market was volatile with uncertain potential and Shony Pictures Animation assumed a guaranteed $20 million was a safe sale.

K-pop Slayer ended up being the most streamed movie in all of 2025 with 207 million full movie watches. FLIX partnered with a national theater chain to have the film shown in select theaters so those without a FLIX subscription could view the buzzworthy movie. Since FLIX owns the IP, they have licensing rights for merchandise and have capitalized on the film exponentially. Shony Pictures Animation, as part of the initial 2021 agreement, will produce the sequel to K-pop Slayer which will be released in summer 2027.

In addition, Shony Pictures Entertainment and FLIX have a new global licensing deal for all of SHONY’S theatrical films to stream on FLIX after the initial theatrical window, beginning in 2028. The multi-year agreement covers upcoming blockbusters and library titles, solidifying FLIX as SHONY’S primary streaming partner.

The vice president of Shony Pictures Animation is excited for the upcoming release of the production company’s newest film, Revenge at K-pop Hall. The movie centers around a league of various K-pop singers that convene at a music festival to take down spirited enemies. Revenge at K-pop Hall will premiere in movie theaters two weeks before the release of K-pop Slayer’s sequel on FLIX.

The vice president wants you to create a promotional plan for the theatrical release of Revenge at K-pop Hall that will outshine the sequel to K-pop Slayer set to debut on FLIX two weeks later.
