DECA Earns Two Gold Circle Awards for Excellence in Association Communications from ASAE

DECA Inc. earned recognition by ASAE with a 2022 Gold Circle Award in two categories: E-Magazine and Video. The Gold Circle Awards competition is the premier association marketing, membership, and communications award that recognizes excellence, innovation, and achievement in association/nonprofit marketing, membership, and communications programs. This year’s competition received more than 300 entries across 15 categories, including convention/meeting campaign, member retention campaign, print magazine, and video.

DECA’s e-magazine entry featured the redesigned and reimagined DECA Direct Online that debuted in March 2021 to bring all of DECA’s member communications to one digital place. Completely replacing the traditional magazine (both in print and in a viewbook format), this new digital magazine is fluid and can be updated instantly, rather than having to wait for a quarterly publication cycle. It represents the way our members wish to consume content, and it includes features that encourage daily and weekly visits. The digital magazine platform launched on March 9, 2021, and within the first two months, it netted over 59K unique users who viewed 142K pages according to Google Analytics. In the first eight months, the digital magazine platform welcomed 181K users who have amassed over 754,000 page views in nearly 356K sessions. Users view an average of 2.12 pages per session. DECA partnered with Hypeline Studios to create the new platform.

DECA’s video entry featured the 2021-2022 DECA Inc. Membership Recruitment Video. Utilizing our annual membership theme – Maximize Your Momentum – the video showcases why joining DECA is a one-of-a-kind opportunity propels students to college and career success. The inspiration for this year? TikTok. The full version of the video, posted to both Vimeo and YouTube, yielded impressive statistics. During the first six months since the video was released on August 3, 2021, there were over 21,000 views, 308,700 impressions and a total watch time of 560 hours – that’s enough for 23 straight days of non-stop replays! DECA Inc.’s overall membership for this year is over 178,000. DECA partnered with Friendship Creative, a White Tie Productions company, to create the video.

Entries for the Gold Circle Awards competition are judged consistently in each category based on criteria established by the ASAE Gold Circle Award Committee for excellence in association marketing, membership, and communications programs.
