3 Ways to Show Your Chapter’s Impact Beyond an Instagram Post

Oct 23, 2026

Your DECA chapter has stories worth sharing, from the community project your members brought to life to the skills they’re building along the way. Instagram is a great place to celebrate those moments, but there are more ways to help people see the value of what you do.

Sharing your chapter’s story with school leaders, local media and business partners can help you recognize members’ hard work, build relationships and create new opportunities.

Ready to reach beyond your followers? Here are three ways to share your chapter’s impact.

1. Put Your Chapter in the School Spotlight

Share a short recap with your principal, school newsletter or morning announcements. Help your school understand what DECA members are accomplishing and how those experiences connect to classroom learning.

  • Include a meaningful result, a student quote and one strong photo.
  • Explain what members learned or how their work benefited others.
  • Example: After a fundraiser, share the amount raised, who it supported and how members used marketing and budgeting skills to make it happen.

2. Share Your Story With the Local Community

Pitch a chapter accomplishment to a community newspaper, neighborhood newsletter or local news outlet. Look for a clear local connection, such as students helping a nonprofit, partnering with businesses or advancing to a major competition.

  • Explain who was involved, what happened and why it matters locally.
  • Include specific results and offer a member or advisor for an interview.
  • Example: Turn a community service photo into a story about the need your chapter helped address and the results of its work.

3. Show Supporters What Their Support Made Possible

Send a brief impact update to business partners, sponsors, volunteers and administrators. Connect their contributions to tangible experiences and outcomes for members.

  • Pair a thank-you with a few results and a member’s perspective.
  • Use a short email, a student presentation or a simple one-page recap.
  • Example: Show a sponsor how their contribution helped members attend a conference—and share what those members learned or brought back to the chapter.

Your chapter’s impact deserves to reach beyond your followers. Start with one accomplishment, highlight the results and experiences that made it meaningful, and share that story with your school, community or supporters. You could open the door to new connections and opportunities for your chapter.
