How to Raise Your Membership to the #NextLevel
As we enter a new year, it’s time to get excited about membership recruitment! We know this year is going to look different, so here are some tips for taking your recruitment efforts to the #NextLevel!
1. Rock Recruitment
When it comes to getting your chapter ready for the #NextLevel, you have to start by rocking your recruitment. While we may not fully know what this school year is going to look like, you should prepare both in-person and virtual recruitment plans. Consider recruiting incoming students at your school’s orientation and reaching out via social media to potential members. Be sure to inform them of what DECA is and the opportunities they will have as a member.
2. Steal the Show with Social Media
In our digital world, social media is one of the best tools we have. Be sure to level up your chapter’s social media game to attract more members and reach a broader audience. As a chapter leader, consider appointing someone who is creative and can make appealing graphics. By having someone elected or appointed to this position, the entire team can direct their ideas to someone who can create posts while keeping a consistent style and voice. You can also check out DECA’s Member Recruitment Toolkit for social media posts and graphics.
3. Have a Virtual Vision
It is important to consider what possibilities this year may hold, including virtual meetings. Work alongside your advisor to promote the use of virtual interest meetings to recruit new members and inform current members what to expect this year. Before these meetings happen, it is also a good idea to practice hosting virtual meetings and understand all the features of your chosen platform.
4. Collaborate with Other Chapters
The schools within your community often have cross-over where students from different schools know each other. This allows for a unique opportunity to collaborate. Work with local chapters to generate new promotional and marketing ideas, or even host joint events. We grow stronger when we work together.
With these tips and tricks, you will be well on your way to recruiting members and promoting your chapter!
