As the Vice President of Southwest Minnesota Collegiate DECA, I find myself at the helm of a vibrant leadership journey, steering our ship toward success. In this reflection, let me share my thoughts on the essential qualities and strategies that define effective leadership and how, in my role, I aim to inspire and guide our team.

Visionary Leadership: For me, leadership is about painting a picture of a future that excites and motivates. As Vice President, I strive to articulate a clear vision for Southwest Minnesota Collegiate DECA that resonates with our members’ passions and ambitions. I want to instill a shared sense of purpose, inviting every team member to contribute their unique strengths towards our common goals.

Communication Skills: Open communication is the bedrock of any successful team. In my role, I aim to keep communication channels wide open. Regular updates on our goals, initiatives and progress are crucial. I value the opinions and feedback of every team member, creating an environment where everyone feels heard and valued.

Team Empowerment: Empowering my team is a priority. I believe in recognizing and leveraging the individual talents and strengths that each member brings to the table. Delegating responsibilities based on expertise fosters a sense of ownership and accountability, creating a team that is efficient and motivated to excel.

Adaptability and Resilience: Navigating the challenges that come our way requires adaptability and resilience. As Vice President, I am ready to face uncertainties with a positive mindset. I encourage my team to see change as an opportunity for growth and improvement, and I lead by example, demonstrating resilience in the face of setbacks.

Inclusive Leadership: Inclusivity is at the core of my leadership style. I am committed to creating an environment where diversity is recognized and celebrated. Every member should feel valued and respected. I strive to lead by example, promoting equity and inclusion in every aspect of Southwest Minnesota Collegiate DECA.

Encouraging a culture of continuous learning and providing opportunities for personal and professional growth is a priority. I want each team member to feel supported on their journey within our organization.

As Vice President, I make it a point to recognize and appreciate our team members’ hard work and dedication.
