Fundraising doesn’t have to feel like a chore. In fact, the most successful DECA fundraisers are the ones that engage members and create memorable experiences. When you put the FUN in fundraising, you build events your chapter or association will actually look forward to. Fundraising can be more than just raising money; it can be an enjoyable experience that has the potential to unite members.

Make It Interactive

The best fundraisers involve members directly. Instead of traditional bake sales or car washes, try interactive events like trivia nights, escape room challenges or pickleball tournaments. When members are active participants, the event becomes a team-building experience rather than just a money-raising task.

Tie Fundraising to a Meaningful Cause

Members are more motivated when they understand their efforts make a real difference. Connect your fundraiser to a cause your chapter or association genuinely cares about. This could be a local charity, national organization or one of DECA's partners, like the Muscular Dystrophy Association. When members see the purpose behind the event, they may be more willing to participate.

Celebrate Participation

Recognition motivates members to stay involved. Post about your fundraising event on social media or create fun awards to incentivize effort and involvement. Small celebrations build excitement and encourage continued engagement.

Keep it Social

Turn fundraising into a shared experience. Members are more likely to participate when they can socialize and enjoy themselves. Play music, choose a fun theme or add friendly competition to boost energy and enthusiasm.

Invite Others

Consider inviting nearby chapters to join your event. A collaborative fundraiser creates a greater impact and introduces members to one another. Joint events encourage networking and idea sharing while strengthening connections within your association. When chapters work together, they expand their reach and build relationships that extend beyond the fundraiser.

Fundraising isn’t just about money. It’s about energy, engagement and building a culture that members are proud to be part of. When your fundraisers are both meaningful and fun, your chapter won’t just generate revenue; it will also strengthen community and spark lasting excitement.
