Why DECA is joining this national movement

Financial confidence opens doors. When students understand how credit works, how to build a budget, and how everyday financial decisions shape long-term outcomes, they gain knowledge they can apply immediately and skills that support lifelong success.

That’s why DECA is joining the Intuit Hour of Finance Challenge.

This challenge is part of a broader effort to help today’s generation become the most financially confident yet. Through initiatives like the Hour of Finance Challenge, Intuit for Education has set a goal to help 50 million students become more financially literate, capable and confident by 2030. By participating, educators and program leaders become part of something bigger than a single classroom activity. They help expand access to financial education at scale.

The impact is meaningful. As Jeremy Bryson, a business teacher at Laurel Highlands High School in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, shared:

“The Hour of Finance challenge has really super-charged what I've been teaching in the classroom this semester… In just an hour of time, I've been able to make financial education exciting and relevant.”

Through this collaboration, DECA is helping educators access a practical, engaging way to introduce financial literacy, leading up to  Financial Literacy Month and beyond.

What educators can do in 60 minutes with zero prep

The Intuit Hour of Finance Challenge was built for real classrooms, real schedules and real constraints. The challenge is:

  • Plug and play
  • Designed to be completed in 60 minutes or less
  • Accessible with little to no prep time
  • Designed for educators across all subject areas

Plus, no subject matter expertise is required.

And it’s not just limited to math. It fits into business, social studies, advisory, career readiness programs, after-school sessions, and community-based organization programming.

What it looks like in practice

Educators register, receive a unique join code and choose a game. Students can enter the code to join and begin immediately. There are no introductory lessons required.

To qualify for awards and recognition, activities must take place between now and April 15, 2026.

Choose your game experience

The Intuit Hour of Finance Challenge offers two interactive, game-based learning experiences. Both are designed to make financial concepts engaging, relevant and practical.

1. Intuit Credit Climber

Intuit Credit Climber focuses on credit fundamentals and the impact of micro-money decisions. Students explore how everyday financial choices can influence long-term outcomes. The game is powered by Credit Karma and uses real-world scenarios to make learning feel authentic.

2. Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF) Money Magic

NGPF Money Magic focuses on fundamental budgeting principles, weighing trade-offs, and managing spending versus saving. Students practice balancing short-term choices with long-term goals while helping Magician Enzo realize his dream of performing in Vegas.

Both options encourage critical thinking and help students build financial capability in a format that feels dynamic rather than instructional.
