“Welcome back to the DECA Playbook, where we turn your DECA goals into winning plays. I'm your coach…” A common phrase you may hear weekly on the variety of West Forsyth DECA social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and TikTok is that something started as just an idea and quickly sprang into an engaging social media campaign that aids in the success of West Forsyth DECA.
Emme Martin and Josephine Barbre (VPs of Marketing) began this idea at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year. Through brainstorming techniques regarding ideas, names and taglines for the campaign, the DECA Playbook was created.
The idea stems from an idea of coaching techniques to give to the West Forsyth DECA chapter. Due to the chapter's large size, providing individual advice to every member can be challenging. Thus, the officers began the idea of coaching through social media and the DECA Playbook began, providing winning plays and coaching for all members.
The DECA Playbook is designed to highlight West DECA’s officers, experienced members and advisors, and to share their best tips and tricks for success not just in DECA but in the real world. The episodes are designed to be anywhere from one to two minutes long, as short videos tend to gain the most engagement in the target demographic of the campaign. These contain a scroll-stopping question that grabs the audience's attention, then go deeper with another question about DECA, asking for personal advice, anecdotes and/or guidance on DECA-related activities and business scenarios. The episodes are advertised weekly on Fridays at 4 PM.
When attending conferences, the DECA Playbook posting frequency increases, as they are a great opportunity to gain advice from DECA members from other schools, as well as insight from association officers and leaders in Georgia DECA. It provokes networking opportunities and allows for making connections.
