In light of the ongoing violence and discrimination against the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, DECA Inc. reaffirms its commitment to continue to stand against racism, hate and bigotry of any kind. Any behavior in the form of discrimination, harassment or bullying will not be tolerated and it is the responsibility of all members to uphold this standard. Diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) are central to achieving DECA Inc.’s mission. Preparing the next generation to be professionally responsible, community oriented and experienced leaders is not possible without addressing the importance of DE&I in our organization and our communities.
We are committed to ensuring equitable access to education and nurturing a diverse community. Throughout the past year, DECA Inc. has taken important steps to ensure DE&I are an integral part of how our organization operates. As part of this effort DECA Inc., in collaboration with the Board of Directors, has developed a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Taskforce led by a prominent diversity educator, qualitative researcher and consultant.
We look forward to launching an equity audit in the coming weeks which will help us analyze areas for improvement and develop strategies to create a stronger and more inclusive organization.
