Alumni Spotlight: Ramkishore Annachi

Feb 7, 2022

Meet Ramkishore Annachi

Ramki served as DECA’s Southern Region Vice President for the 2020-2021 academic year. He was an avid competitor from North Carolina who was fortunate to have the opportunity to serve at the chapter, association and executive levels of leadership. He currently studies electrical and computer engineering at North Carolina State University.

Q: How has DECA helped you since graduating from high school?

Engineers are often stereotyped for their lack of social aptitude, so the organizational leadership and presentation skills I gained through DECA set me apart from my peers. I also earned a full-ride, merit-based scholarship which may not have been possible without DECA.

Q: What advice would you give to current DECA members?

Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and take risks.

In my first officer election, I was from a chapter of 20 members running against candidates from schools ten times as large. If I had backed out from fear, I would not be where I am today. Same with competing and earning DECA glass at ICDC against powerhouse chapters from Texas and Ontario. Don’t fight the current and stress too much about everything working out; just enjoy the journey and take things as they come.
