You won't want to miss the 20th annual DECA Virtual Business Challenge (VBC)!
The DECA VBC is an official competitive event free to high school members and hosted by Knowledge Matters. The event is based on the virtual business series of simulations and offers over $20,000 in scholarship money.
Participants in the interactive DECA Virtual Business Challenge (VBC) operate a web-based business simulation. The VBC qualifying rounds are conducted via the internet, where participants post competition scores for chartered association, regional and overall rankings. With eight different VBC tracks available, there is something for everyone!
- VBC Accounting
- VBC Entrepreneurship
- VBC Fashion
- VBC Hotel Management/DECA Hotel Challenge (Presented by the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation)
- VBC Personal Finance
- VBC Restaurant
- VBC Retailing
- VBC Sport
PARTICIPATION
The competition is FREE to all active high school DECA members. The interactive challenge is entirely web-based; no installations or downloads are necessary. Students may participate individually or in a group of up to three members from the same DECA chapter. Students may only be a member of one team per track. Each individual or team can participate in as many tracks as they would like.
REGISTRATION
All of this year’s events will be using online versions of our Virtual Business simulations. If your members already have online Virtual Business accounts, they will not have to register for new accounts. They will, however, still have to create new VBC teams.
Students may register themselves or their team beginning on October 5, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. ET. Only active DECA chapters will appear in the registration menu. To confirm your chapter’s membership status, please contact membership@deca.org.
All active chapter advisors will have access to the challenge simulation software on October 5, 2021. If you are new to DECA’s VBC, an advisor account will be created for you. If you already have an online account, please continue to use the same log in information to access your account.
Important Note: Advisors, you must log in to approve teams registered under your chapter. To log in to your advisor account, please visit vb.knowledgematters.com.
RECOGNITION
The top two teams, per track, per round will be eligible to compete during the International Career Development Conference (ICDC), providing teams meet their chartered association’s rules and regulations. See challenge guidelines for more information on ICDC qualifications. Additionally, the top-performing team, per track, per round in each chartered association will receive a certificate of achievement. Student members competing at ICDC may not compete in another ICDC event.
