Here We Go: Make the Final Push to Boost Your Membership

Membership in DECA’s High School Division is looking strong as we surpass 211,000 members as of today. Despite this upward trend, it’s important to continue to grow and strengthen your local chapters and associations.

While many associations have their own membership deadline, March 1, 2020, is the absolute deadline for competitor eligibility at the DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Nashville. It’s also the day recognition at ICDC will be determined.

DECA membership has different levels of opportunities and perks. Here are some ways to receive recognition for all your hard work and time spent building your membership.

Chapter Level Perks

  • Be recognized as the largest chapter in your association. The chapter leading in membership as of March 1st in each association will be recognized during the Leadership Recognition Reception at ICDC.
  • Be recognized as the chapter with the largest membership increase in your association. If you don’t have a large chapter, you can still earn recognition during the Leadership Recognition Reception at ICDC by being the chapter in your association with the largest membership increase on March 1st.
  • Be the largest DECA chapter in the world! Recruit students, alumni and professionals to earn the ultimate recognition: the largest DECA chapter in the world! The Top 10 DECA chapters as of March 1st will be recognized during the Leadership Recognition Reception at ICDC. The Top 10 DECA chapters will also be recognized on-stage during the Grand Opening Session.

*Consult your association advisor for guidelines on attending ICDC. Recognition at ICDC will be based on membership reports as of March 1, 2020. Final membership rankings will be based on membership reports as of June 30, 2020.

Team up with fellow chapters in your association to grow overall membership and be eligible for even more opportunities. Here are some chartered association membership perks:

  • Each chartered association receives one additional competitive event allocation (good for a single event at ICDC 2020) for every 50-member increase over its last year’s membership total.

Membership and recruitment ideas are always flowing on DECA Direct if you’re looking for strategies to increase your membership. Once you have your new members, don’t forget to submit them using the online membership system.

Good luck and #HereWeGo as you head into the final months of ICDC preparation and chapter growth!
