Giving Back on #GivingTuesday

Mississippi State University-Meridian Collegiate DECA participated in #GivingTuesday, on December 3, 2019.

“Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good,” stated on the Giving Tuesday website.

MSU DECA members collected and donated female toiletries and toys for children to the Care Lodge of Meridian, Mississippi. Care Lodge is an emergency domestic violence shelter for women and children. Many of the women leave their abusive environment with just the clothes on their backs. The shelter staff said:

“We cannot wait to hand these items out and warm a few hearts on this chilly day.”

The chapter also donated four large variety bags of snacks to the patients at Anderson Regional Cancer Center in Meridian, Mississippi. The snacks will be available for patients while they’re receiving their treatments. According to their website, 110 patients are treated per day for advanced radiation and chemotherapy treatments.

MSU DECA cares about our community and we’re willing to help where it’s needed!
