Mark Your Calendars for the 2019-2020 Virtual Business Challenge
Participants in the DECA Virtual Business Challenge (VBC) operate a web-based business simulation utilizing a competition version of the Virtual Business software. The VBC qualifying rounds are conducted via the internet, where participants post competition scores for chartered association, regional and overall rankings. In partnership with Knowledge Matters, seven unique tracks are available to engage a variety of minds:
- VBC Accounting
- VBC Fashion
- VBC Hotel Management/DECA Hotel Challenge (Presented by the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation)
- VBC Personal Finance
- VBC Restaurant
- VBC Retailing
- VBC Sports
The competition is FREE to all active high school DECA members. The challenge is entirely web-based; no installations or downloads are necessary. Participants will enjoy nearly 100% of the functionality of the classroom simulation.
Students may participate individually or in a group of up to three members from the same DECA chapter. Students may only be a member of one team per track. Each individual or team can participate in as many tracks as they would like.
The DECA Virtual Business Challenge will consist of two rounds: the first beginning October 22, 2019 and the second beginning January 7, 2020. Each round will last 11 days.
Students may register themselves or their team on October 8, 2019. Only active DECA chapters will appear in the registration menu. To confirm your chapter’s membership status, please contact email@example.com. Chapter advisors must approve registrations for students to have access to the simulation.
All active chapter advisors will have access to the challenge simulation software on October 8, 2019. If you are new to DECA’s VBC, an advisor account will be created for you. If you already have an online account, please continue to use the same log in information to access your account.
The top two teams, per track, per round will be eligible to compete at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC), providing teams meet their chartered association’s rules and regulations. Additionally, the top-performing team, per track, per round in each chartered association will receive a certificate of achievement. Student members competing at ICDC may not compete in another ICDC event.

- Round 2 Ends – January 17, 2020 @ 5:00 PM ET
