ENGAGE 2018 Modules

DECA’s ENGAGE Conference will challenge Collegiate DECA members to understand their career interests, skills and experiences and empower them to stand out among the competition. A blend of career and leadership coaching, industry presentations and site visits in New York City, ENGAGE will connect Collegiate DECA members to business professionals who will help mentor them for their future. Finally, attendees will work in a small team to develop and present a solution to a real-time business simulation.

Module 1: Designing & Communicating Your Authentic Self

Self-discovery is a critical first step to making satisfying life and career choices. Your interests, motivators, competencies, and preferences provide an important foundation for career planning and job search success. This module will help participants understand their own story – the unique combination of experiences, education and goals. Then, they will prepare to share that story in a meaningful way to convey their value – in person or on a resume.

Module 2: Engage with Business

In module two, participants will engage with business leaders from various organizations to learn more about career opportunities, real-world challenges and frameworks to apply to their future business endeavors. We will use a business simulation setup to optimize this time as participants prepare to put that knowledge to work.

Module 3: How Do I Stand Out?

Interviews are an inevitable step toward your future career. You have one shot to get it right and make an impact. With the right preparations, you’ll leave a lasting impression and have the company eagerly calling you back for the next round. This module will prepare participants to nail their next interview. From researching the company to answering tough questions, participants will walk away ready to wow any hiring committee.

Module 4: Business Simulations

Having discovered nuances around how business is done across organizations within an industry track, module four will give participants the opportunity to engage in a cloud based simulation that puts them in the shoes of those professionals.  The business simulations offer real-world situations, forcing participants to make decisions and react to the outcomes. Top teams in each track will be recognized for their success.

ENGAGE will take place November 8-10, 2018 in New York City. Collegiate DECA members can register here. You can find more information in the ENGAGE Registration Kit.
