Building Your Chapter’s Instagram in 3 Easy Steps

Instagram is a great way to advertise your chapter. Boost chapter’s Instagram page with these three easy steps.

Step 1: Build Your Action Plan

The most successful Instagram accounts post regularly and often times their followers know when to expect new content. Your chapter should decide when you want to post and how often to post.

Once you have a solid plan, stick to it. Try scheduling your Instagram posts with tools like Hootsuite and Buffer to alleviate the stress later on.

There are “prime times” to post Instagram photos but do take into consideration time zones and how every account is different with a different set of followers. Test the waters and see what works best for you. Try to avoid posting during the night since most people are asleep rather than on their phones. Weekends can be a hit or miss as well.

Step 2: Content! Content! Content!

Always be thinking about content. Whenever I go out of town, I always bring along a DECA shirt and take photos every time I am some place new. I have a tendency to stock up on photos like these for moments where I am struggling to create content.

A little editing does not hurt either. Photoshop can really enhance photos taken on a phone. There are many free apps such as Studio and VSCO that can spruce up your photos.

Having a variety of posts is a must! Your followers will easily get bored if all you post is group photos or photos with strictly text on it. Change things up, be creative, and have fun with your Instagram!

Here are some examples of Instagram accounts with a solid variety of posts:

Step 3: Keep On Keeping Up

It is a two-way street here. If your followers are liking and commenting on your posts, you should do the same. This interaction is key to building an organic and authentic following. People notice when you are engaging with your followers and they will likely return the favor.

With these simple tips in mind, your chapter will become an Instagram pro in no time!
