Boost Your Yearbook Sales & Earning a Trip to ICDC With the Herff Jones Marketing Results Challenge

Looking for a new way to engage your marketing class? Want your students to develop a strategic plan for yearbook sales this year? Consider the Herff Jones Marketing Results Challenge.

The Herff Jones Marketing Results Challenge tasks students with brainstorming campaigns to increase yearbook awareness and sales on campus. If participants are not already a part of the school’s yearbook committee, the challenge is a great opportunity for the chapter to collaborate with the school’s yearbook staff by creating and implementing marketing strategies to drive yearbook sales. Participants will conclude the challenge by preparing a video presentation which details their methods and results.

PARTICIPATION

Students may participate individually or in a group of up to three members of a high school DECA chapter. The competition is open to all DECA chapters, regardless of the printing company used for the school’s yearbook. No preference will be given to Herff Jones customers.

Participants will present their findings in a YouTube video that is a maximum of 10 minutes in length. Herff Jones will evaluate all submitted video presentations, focusing on the quality of the research and assessment, creativity of the campaigns, percentage of sales increase and more. Chapters may submit multiple entries for consideration as long and the team can showcase how each campaign generated sales growth separately. Completed challenge application forms, including a link to the video presentation and answers to research/analysis questions, are to be submitted by December 1, 2017.

RECOGNITION

The top two teams will travel to the 2018 Herff Jones International Sales Conference in Houston, Texas in January 2018. Each team will have the opportunity to make presentations to Herff Jones’ corporate, sales, marketing and professional development teams in person.

Herff Jones will select one winning team and award a $5,000 travel prize to help cover the team’s expense to attend the International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia in April 2018. The winning team will be recognized on stage during a general session. See challenge guidelines for ICDC eligibility.

TIMELINE

  • Intent to compete forms due – October 13, 2017
  • Submissions due – December 1, 2017
  • Finalists notified – December 8, 2017
  • Finalists present in Houston, Texas – January 15-17, 2018
  • Winning team travels to ICDC – April 21-24, 2018
