Does your DECA chapter have a DECA Direct Online Social Media Correspondent yet?

It’s important to have one and I’ll tell you why.

Social media correspondents are a great way to get your chapter on the map! Having someone write articles about your chapter’s experiences and successes is a great way to inform other chapters about what you’ve been up to.

DECA Inc. showcases these articles on DECADirect.org and are promoted via social media for others to see. If you are unsure of what to write about, you can always visit decadirect.org for inspiration. There are endless possibilities for topics to choose from and as a Social Media Correspondent, you have free rein of what to write about.

Here are some topics to get your creative juices flowing:

  • How to Execute a Successful Fundraiser
  • Creative Ways to Recruit New Members
  • Applying Skills Learned in DECA to the Real World
  • Basic Accounting Skills to take into Competition
  • Creative Marketing Tactics that’ll have you Thinking Out of the Box

After these articles are published, you can showcase them on your LinkedIn and essentially build yourself a portfolio for employers to check out (hey marketing and journalism majors, this is especially great for you)!

Fear not though, because this position isn’t limited to just one person. I encourage every member to become a Social Media Correspondent. Each member of a chapter has a special perspective of what’s going on, and sharing your own personal story is a great way to showcase all the incredible ways your chapter is making a difference.

Can’t think of topics to write about? Check out this great article by Arizona State University Collegiate DECA member, Jazmine Reyes. Or this piece by Community College of Rhode Island-Liston Collegiate DECA Chapter President, Emily Dias.

With your help, DECA Direct can be a database of amazing pieces of work packed full of ideas, inspiration and successes. You have the opportunity to share your chapter with the world so why not take the shot?
