Summer Competition Prep Tips

Ally White | Houston County DECA

The first place winners at DECA’s International Career Development Conference will usually tell you that their success comes from an all-year round study and prep routine.

Here are a few tips to help you sharpen up your skills before next year’s #DECAICDC:

1. Study for your tests year-round.

If you study marketing vocabulary and lessons all year-round, your DECA test will be a breeze. Try using online vocabulary sites, such as Quizlet, to help you freshen up your knowledge.

2. Read winning previous year’s manuals and role-play scripts.

Reading previous year’s manuals is an excellent way to see just what the judges are looking for at ICDC. Compare your writing skills to theirs, but remember plagiarizing is not acceptable!

3. Read DECA Direct Online articles for inspiration.

DECA Direct Online is full of online resources to help you strive to be your best in DECA. From competition tips, to college and career advice, you are sure to find all the information you need at DECA Direct!

4. Check Out DECA Images
