Collegiate DECA Certified Hospitality Supervisor Certification Offered by AHLEI

As a result of their participation in Collegiate DECA’s Competitive Events Program, Collegiate DECA members may have an opportunity to earn recognized industry certifications in the hospitality industry.

Certified Hospitality Supervisor (CHS) Certification* offered by AHLEI

The Certified Hospitality Supervisor (CHS) Certification is only available to Collegiate DECA members. A time in position requirement will be upheld for Collegiate DECA members exempting out of the CHS exam. In accordance with the CHS pre-requisites, a member will need to be in the qualifying position for three-months before obtaining the CHS designation. A voucher will be mailed to all Collegiate DECA members who purchase the CHS. The voucher will exempt the member from the CHS examination and serve as payment receipt. The voucher, coupled with their employment verification documentation, will be submitted to AHLEI in order to award the member the designation of Certified Hospitality Supervisor.

AHLEI’s Certified Hospitality Supervisor (CHS) Certification will cost Collegiate DECA members $40, compared to AHELI’s pricing of $80 for AHELI members and $100 for non-members.

DECA members who took the Hospitality and Tourism Exam at Collegiate ICDC and scored at least 70% will be eligible.

Ordering Process

DECA has created an online, centralized hub to facilitate the certification process between all parties involved. Exam data from ICDC has been uploaded to the online hub/marketplace. DECA advisors will be able to go to a specified webpage to order certification materials for their students with scores above 70% on the exams.

Step 1 – Go to if you are a collegiate advisor.

Step 2 – Enter your username and password.

Step 3 – Put your cursor over the “Main” tab.  Click on the “Market Place Hub” option.

Step 4 – Click on the certification options available to see if any of your students are eligible for either of the industry certifications.

Step 5 – Select the students you wish to order certifications for.

Step 6 – Confirm your students and the totals.

Step 7 – Provide credit card information to place order and hit “Submit.” All payments must be done via credit card.

Step 8 – DECA Inc. will collect orders and send to AHLEI on a bi-weekly basis.
