Over the past few days, I have been gathering the best competition tips from members all over the world at the 2017 DECA International Career Development Conference.

To make it a little easier for all 19,000 #DECAICDC attendees, I have narrowed my list down to the top five tips:

1. Be yourself.

Don’t be afraid to let yourself shine!

2. Be prepared.

Always come with everything that you might need, whether that be your ID, a pencil, or a calculator.

3. Study all cluster exams.

Instead of just studying your cluster exam, study all of them that way there are no surprises when it’s time to compete. It’s better to be overly prepared rather than not prepared at all

4. Be early.

Always arrive 15-20 minutes early, that way it gives you plenty of time to find where you are going and it also allows you to just sit back and breathe for a moment before you go to compete

5. Just breathe!

All competitors experience a case of the butterflies before competition time, but the best way to ensure you do your best is to take a deep breath before it’s go time!

As you are competing over the next two days keeps these tips in mind. Good luck to all competitors!
