Important Information Regarding the #DECAICDC 2017 Grand Opening Session

With the 2017 International Career Development Conference less than a 100 days away, the DECA Inc. staff has been preparing for the pinnacle event of the academic year.

We are excited to share some preliminary plans with you regarding our general sessions.

Our Grand Opening Session at the DECA International Career Development Conference will be conducted in two sessions. We shared this with the chartered association advisors in August at the DECA Chartered Association Management Conference.

To best facilitate the opening sessions, we are assigning the attendance by region and will maintain a seating chart:

  • Session 1 – 7:00-8:30 PM – Central Region and North Atlantic Region
  • Session 2 – 9:30-11:00 PM – Southern Region and Western Region

We have encouraged our associations to consider the timing of your association meetings based on your assigned session.

We all know that this will be a different way of experiencing #DECAICDC, and change can also provide new opportunities and experiences, especially embraced with a supportive, open-mind. DECA is committed to ensuring a high-energy, quality production at the same level as our past general sessions. Even with this new format we still be able to create an energetic atmosphere where our members will feel part of a memorable opening session experience like we have in years past.

We will continue to communicate plans and details as we work closely with the Anaheim Convention Center, production company, transportation providers and hotel partners to ensure safety and high-level organization of the event.

The Grand Awards Session will be conducted in the format of our Achievement Awards Session earlier that morning. DECA will ensure ample seating for all members either in the main hall that can accommodate 15,500 attendees or an overflow room.

If you have any questions, you may contact your chartered association advisor or Christopher Young, High School Division Director at Christopher_Young@deca.org.
