5 Holiday Ideas for Your DECA Chapter
The winter months are a time to come together and be with those you enjoy and, DECA is no exception!
Here are some great ideas that your chapter can do to celebrate the holiday season:
1. Community Service
The holidays are a time to give back, and what better way to do so than by helping your own community! A canned food drive, warm clothing drive, or toy donations are just a few examples of what your chapter can do to give back.
2. Ugly Sweater Contest
Have your chapter members wear their ugliest holiday sweaters and have your DECA advisors judge. Have prizes for the top three contestants to get the whole school involved and spread awareness of DECA.
3. Holiday Gift Exchange
An event my chapter has done in previous year has been a chapter gift exchange. Everyone brings a wrapped gift and exchanges them, not knowing who’s is who’s. A gift exchange is both a fun activity and drums up meeting attendance.
4. Competition Prep
The holiday season means the DECA competition fast approaching, and we all want to go to #DECAICDC in Anaheim, right? Whether you’re a first year DECA member, or a 4-year veteran, preparation and practice is key to success. Make sure your members have an opportunity to practice and get feedback with a competition prep meeting, after all, only the best go west!
5. Chapter Meal
For the past few years, my chapter has rented a room out in a local pizza parlor and shared a meal, creating a memorable experience for our DECA members. This previous year, we made ornaments and gave them out to attendees as keepsakes.
Whether you want to use one, or all of these ideas, they’re sure to help you own this DECA holiday season!
