NSHSS Opens $1,000 DECA Chapter Advisor Awards

The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) has established a Claes Nobel DECA Advisor Leadership Award to recognize outstanding contributions of DECA advisors who consistently demonstrate their commitment to preparing students for success in college and in life.

arlisa_brittThis year, NSHSS will award two $1,000 scholarships to DECA advisors at the DECA International Career Development Conference, April 26-29, 2017, in Anaheim, Calif.

Applications are due January 13, 2017.

Eligible candidates must be active DECA Advisors currently offering direct instruction at a public or private school in the United States or abroad. Applicants must submit a resume, personal statement, principal’s recommendation and a photo.

Past recipients of this award include:

  • 2016 – Joshua Dumas, Maplewood Comprehensive High School (Nashville, Tenn.)
  • 2016 – Andrea Weishaar, Pinkerton Academy (Derry, N.H.)
  • 2015 – Michelle Camp, Maumelle High School (Maumelle, Ark.)
  • 2015 – Troy Davis, Yorktown High School (Yorktown Ind.)
