Help Make a Difference in D.C. During the #DECAPowerTrip
You’re invited to participate in an incredible conference community service activity and fundraiser to benefit the DC Central Kitchen as part of the 2016 Ultimate DECA Power Trip in Washington, D.C., November 18-20.
DC Central Kitchen’s mission is to use food as a tool to strengthen bodies, empower minds, and build communities.
On Friday, November 18, a select group of DECA members will be able to join Southern Region Vice President, Victoria Meng, and North Atlantic Region Vice President, Emily Fraser, and volunteer at the DC Central Kitchen to prepare community meals. This will be a morning activity that will require an 8:45 AM arrival to the DC Central Kitchen and conclude at 12 PM.
Watch for more details coming soon on how to sign up for this limited activity. What a great way to earn some community service hours that may be part of your graduation requirements!
On Saturday, November 19, during lunch, DECA will be hosting a Food Truck Festival right outside the Renaissance Downtown DC Hotel. A variety of food trucks will be waiting to help you find quick, convenient and tasty food options during a packed conference schedule. A percentage of the profits will be donated to the DC Central Kitchen and DECA’s scholarship fund.
Additionally, DECA Images will have “grab bags” available to support the cause and/or your chapter is welcome to conduct a fundraiser locally to contribute to our donation. We will be presenting the total amount raised for DC Central Kitchen on stage at the closing session on Sunday, November 20.
