5 Reasons You Need to Be in D.C. for #DECAPowerTrip 2016
Can you believe it’s already time to prepare for regional conferences? The leaves are falling, Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back and the Ultimate DECA Power Trip is almost here!
From November 18-20, Washington, D.C., will be home to thousands of DECA members ready to learn more about their potential careers, network with industry leaders and improve their own leadership skills.
Why else should you attend #DECAPowerTrip this November? Check out these five awesome reasons:
1. Get Ahead in Competition
Get a head start in competition preparation at #DECAPowerTrip. Not only will you hear from competitive event experts on how to best prepare and improve your score, but you’ll be able to actually compete in a real practice role-play thanks to Johnson & Wales University. This is a great opportunity to hear from competition experts and talk with fellow competitors, plus you may make the stage Sunday morning and walk away a winner!
2. Jumpstart your College Education
The Ultimate DECA Power Trip will have an exhibit hall featuring representatives from top universities with competitive programs perfect for every DECA member. For example, some of the schools represented last year were The University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, Texas Tech University, Rochester Institute of Technology, and West Virginia University. Some colleges will even hold informative panels to help explain what life in college is really like, what to expect as a freshman and what to look for in your future university.
3. Tour the Nation’s Capital
Washington D.C. is an amazing city teeming with history, art, and culture! Everyone will get a chance to see some of the most fascinating landmarks our nation’s capital has to offer on the DECA After Dark Bus Tour. In previous year, the tour has included visits to the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. If you’ve never experience D.C. at night, this will be one event you can’t afford to miss!
4. Make Lasting Relationships
The Ultimate DECA Power Trip will bring together over 1,500 members from across the Southern and North Atlantic Regions. Chapter members, chapter officers, and association officers will have opportunities to network, share ideas and creating lasting friendships. If you’re looking to make a bigger splash in your DECA involvement, then #DECAPowerTrip is the place to be.
5. Hear from the Best
This year’s opening and and closing session keynote speakers are industry experts and have highly inspiring messages to share with DECA members at Power Trip. Workshops presented by companies and organizations will also inform about upcoming trends in the marketing world, as well as a variety of other topics that can be applied to competition and leadership. Plus, you’ll be able to attend competitive event workshops to prepare for #DECAICDC and receive awesome tips on improving your chapter from association officers.
I can’t wait to see you in D.C. this November!
