Virginia DECA Certified Trainers Provide Exceptional Professional Development to Local Chapter Advisors
After attending DECA’s Train the Trainer Certification Course in June, Virginia DECA association leaders left ready to provide one-of-a-kind professional development to local chapter advisors.
Certified trainers Donna Roush, Jason Uhry, Jane Werner and Lisa Baynes, held a well-received training session in August at the Virginia Association of Marketing Educators Conference.
Professional learning was provided in an all-day, pre-conference workshop, as well as in sessions during the conference.
Over 140 chapter advisors participated in various parts of the training! Professional learning topics included a session on this year’s Own Your Future thme, as well as training modules covered in the 2016-2017 Train the Trainer Certification Course, including chapter enhancement through project management, chapter communication strategies and more.
Advisors completing the sessions were awarded certificates of completion and re-certification points as incentives.
“Being able to earn re-certification points that actually apply to our teaching is one reason advisors want to attend these sessions and they really help us prepare and get motivated for the new year, ” attending advisor Cindy Garrett noted.
Trainer Donna Roush remarked that a large number of career switchers and advisors who are new to DECA participated in training. This created a great network of support and resource sharing to get advisors in gear for the school-year!
