DECA Announces Marriott Representatives as #DECAICDC Opening Session Keynote Speakers

The best part about DECA’s International Career Development Conference is that it’s not only an arena for DECA’s best competitive members, but also an opportunity for members to experience leadership lessons and gain an insight into their potential career field.

This year members will have the chance to hear and learn from two Marriott International, Inc. representatives at the #DECAICDC opening session!

Erika L. Alexander | Chief Lodging Services Officer, The Americas

Erika is responsible for the development and implementation of product and service strategies across more than 3,500 hotels in The Americas. She is responsible for ensuring that brand programming is activated at the property level. Erika provides leadership to the hotel openings, operations support resources and breakthrough leadership teams.

While being highly decorated with awards reflecting her success in the industry, Erika also plays an active role in her community, serving on a number of boards including Leadership Atlanta, the Atlanta Children’s Shelter, and the International Women’s Forum of Georgia.

Melissa Froehlich Flood | Vice President, Government Affairs

Melissa leads Marriott’s government affairs department overseeing all federal, state and local policy work, advocacy campaigns, and grassroots activations. Responsible for public policy communications, executive positioning on policy issues, global association management and Marriott’s political engagement, Melissa has focused the team on delivering better business results through advocacy and external engagement.

Melissa has fifteen years of corporate public affairs experience in Washington, D.C., and is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the U.S. Travel Association.  Melissa also provides an international insight while serving on the World Travel and Tourism Council and the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council for Travel and Tourism.
