Breaking Down the Collegiate DECA Leadership Passport Program
Mayville State Collegiate DECA as a chapter requires members to complete the Individual Leadership Passport Program in order to attend the annual Collegiate DECA International Career Development Conference.
We do this in order to promote chapter member participation all year long. It is really helpful for the members because they get the opportunities to enhance their individual leadership skills, and it helps grow professionally as a group also.
The Individual Leadership Passport Program provides student members a guide for year-round engagement, and enhances the benefits of membership in Collegiate DECA.
Activities are categorized using DECA’s core values and guiding principles, in an effort to encourage a well-rounded college/university experience. In addition to students who are members of a campus-based chapter, Individual Members are also eligible for this recognition program.
The two levels that you can complete within the Leadership Passport Program are the Blue Diamond Level and Gold Diamond Level.
The Blue Diamond Award is the basic level; you have five overall requirements to do and an additional two tasks in the four categories of the passport.
The Gold Diamond Award gives you three additional requirements and three tasks in the four categories. These categories are teamwork, innovation, competence, and integrity.
Some of the tasks included are:
- Attend the Collegiate Leadership Academy
- Perform 10 hours of community service independently or with a group
- Bring two (2) friends to a chapter meeting
- Attend and compete at an association/regional/invitational conference
- Create a LinkedIn account and post your Collegiate DECA experience
These tasks are simple things that a lot of you DECA members probably already do!
