Tips for Taking DECA Exams

Many of DECA’s competitive events require competitors to take an exam along with the event’s role-play or presentation.

Doing well on the exam not only means you could make it on stage at your association conference, but you could also move on to the 2016 International Career Development Conference!

With all this in mind, there are things you can do to help make sure you do the best you can.

  1. Study for Your Exam

Treating the exam as if it was any other test you were taking in school can help you ace it. Practice exams can be some of the most helpful tools when studying. Talk to your DECA Advisor about getting a practice exam for your testing cluster or download the DECA compete app for official practice exams on the go!

  1. Remember to Stay Calm

It’s important to remember to stay calm and relaxed while taking your exam. If you let your nerves get the best of you, you’ll have a harder time remembering all the information you’ve spent months studying. Take a deep breath and remind yourself that you’ve got this!

  1. Read Each Questions Slowly

Going over reach question slowly and carefully is the best way to ensure you answer each question to the best of your ability. Think through all your answers and if all else fails, there’s nothing wrong with taking an educated guess.

Exams are coming up soon; stay prepared with these tips and good luck!
