4 Ways to Make #DECAMonth 2015 EPIC

October is finally here! We are all ready for Halloween, breaking out those fall sweaters, and of course, preparing our pumpkin for the DECA Pumpkin Contest!

However, October also provides chapter members with the opportunity to begin preparing events for “DECA Month” which is now officially less than a month away!

November is the perfect month for members to get involved with their chapters and to get the ball rolling for a great year! Below are four tips on how chapter officers can engage their members with various activities in order to make sure that November is #DECAEpic!

  1. EPIC Chapter Campaigns

Everyone’s dream for the upcoming year is to be on a plane to Nashville next April for #DECAICDC, am I right? Well, November provides chapters with the opportunity to complete various “campaigns” in order to secure members spots at the Emerging Leadership Conferences at ICDC!

This is one of the easiest ways to guarantee your spot for the 2016 International Career Development Conference and there are numerous ways you can do so! The Membership, Global Entrepreneurship Week, Promotional, and Community Service Campaign are all due in December, so November is the ideal time to crank out all these EPIC activities to complete these four campaigns. The Advocacy Campaign is due in March, but it’s never too early to start planning! More details and the requirements for each of the campaigns can be found here.

  1. Fundraisers

With regionals, states, and ICDC approaching quickly, it is time to begin planning the fundraisers your chapter will run throughout the year in order to offset the costs of competitions. From a car wash and candy sale, to a talent show or IMPROV night, there are numerous ways that your chapter can begin gathering the funds needed in order to attend such competitions. Be sure to check out DECA Direct’s vast fundraising database for great ideas your chapter can use.

  1.  Publicity

DECA is far more than just a school club or organization; we focus on the principles of community engagement and recognition. DECA Month is the perfect time to start gaining that community engagement and public support your chapter needs in order to be on the path to success! Writing an article for your community’s paper, talking to local business owners about entrepreneurship, and hanging up flyers in local businesses are just a few of the ways your chapter can get that recognition and support you need from your community!

  1. Attend the Ultimate DECA Power Trip

From November 20-22, the Ultimate DECA Power Trip conference will bring the North Atlantic, Southern and Western Region to Austin, Texas, for three days of leadership, competition and fun!

This conference provides members with the perfect opportunity to begin practicing their DECA skills and connecting with other members from across the country! More information and registration can be found here.

Central Region DECA members can have their own EPIC experience this November too at the Central Region Leadership Conference in Kansas City, Mo. Learn more about #DECACRLC here.

You can also particpate in the 2015 #DECAMonth Photo Challenge and see if you can share a DECA photo everyday for the entire month of November!

There are countless ways that you can get your chapter engaged with #DECAMonth! Be sure to keep DECA up to date with all of the activities your chapter runs through social media by tagging @DECAInc in all your #DECAMonth posts.
