ATCC Collegiate DECA Hosts Local DECA Competition
On January 22, 2015, Alexandria Technical and Community College Collegiate DECA had the opportunity to hold its 10th annual DECA competition. This year Alexandria Area High School DECA members were invited to join. Forty-six students from AAHS attended, along with 90 Collegiate DECA members from ATCC.
Eric Hartmann, Alexandria Area DECA advisor, said, “The ATCC DECA Conference was a tremendous experience for Alexandria Area DECA members. Due to having a new and growing program, this was the first opportunity for 35 of our 43 DECA members to compete. This experience was invaluable as we look to our next competition on Wednesday, February 4, in St. Cloud, Minn., against 18 area high schools. We are grateful to ATCC DECA program for inviting us to compete and we look forward to continuing this great opportunity.”
ATCC Collegiate DECA would also like to thank the 45 local business professionals for taking time out of their day to judge the competition
Dan Roone, owner of Cowing Robards, thought it was a tremendous opportunity for students. He believes marketing and sales has endless career opportunities and he wishes students the best of luck at the next level of competition.
The Minnesota Collegiate DECA state conference is being held in Maple Grove on February 26-27, 2015. Around 40 Collegiate DECA members will be competing from ATCC.
“This is my second year competing in DECA and it has been a great experience I look forward to the state conference,” said Cassidy Sprenger, an officer of ATCC Collegiate DECA.
ATCC Collegiate DECA is thankful for this opportunity and experience.
