#DECAICDC Fashion Police

Here at DECA’s International Career Development Conference, members know being dressed to impress is a huge #DECAdo. There’s lots of ways to jazz up your DECA blazer, look professional and make sure the judges remember you.

Throughout the course of the conference I was on fashion patrol looking for the best dressed DECA members.

I ran into Alexander Montag (@AlexMontag) of New York DECA, who paired his DECA blazer with a blue plaid shirt and solid yellow tie, incorporating colors from the always-trendy DECA patch. He looked professional and stylish for his debriefing Sunday morning.

Brianna Forrest (@BriannaForrest__) and Hannah Georgeson (@GeorgesonHannah) of Minnesota DECA were spotted at the MDA Luncheon wearing matching nude, knee-length dresses paired with nude heels and pantyhose. This classic look had this dynamic pair looking fabulous as they represented their chapter at the luncheon Sunday afternoon.

On competition day, Ambalika Tilabo-Kangal (@ambaill26) and Aaron Mitchell (@aaaaaaron_) from Florida DECA strutted their stuff on the red carpet with confidence after their presentation thanks to their coordinating professional dress. Ambalilka rocked a Kelly Green knee-length dress, panty hose and strappy black shoes, while her partner Aaron sported a matching Kelly Green dress shirt paired with a sleek black tie. I’m sure the judges noticed they were dressed to impress!

Rohan Ghiya (@TheRohanGhiya) was spotted sporting a uniquely knotted tie this year’s #DECAICDC opening session. “I’m starting a new DECA trend,” Rohan said. “It will be legendary."

The 2014 FIDM Challenge winner Alaina Alyward (@AlainaAlyward) also shared with me her top three DECA do’s and don’ts when it comes to professional dress.

Do:

  • Press and iron every time
  • Limit your accessories
  • Wear good undergarments

Don’t:

  • Wear unprofessional heels
  • Wear pants that are too long; hem those puppies
  • Wear distracting pants and colors. You’re going for professional and confident, not busy and flashy!

Thanks Alaina for sharing your tips and thank you to all the DECA members for keeping it classy in ATL!
