DECA and Disney Youth Education Series Join Forces

Mickey Mouse himself came all the way to Atlanta, Ga., to announce DECA's newest partnership with Disney's Youth Education Series during the Grand Awards Session at the 2014 DECA International Career Development Conference.

Mickey's appearance anywhere beyond Disney theme parks and resorts is an extremely rare occurrence. His #decaicdc appearance follows Mickey's visits to the GRAMMYS, and the White House! #DECAICDC is so honored to now be part of these historic and prestigious visits.

The announcement formalizes the connection DECA has had with Disney over the past 20 years and brings the relationship to an entirely new level. DECA and Disney first aligned nearly 20 years ago when executive director, Dr. Ed Davis, assisted with the Department of Transportation's Billboard Initiative. That project resulted in Disney-themed billboards appearing across the U.S. The billboards are still found at the highway entrances of Walt Disney World Resort today.

This new partnership will give DECA members a unique look into one of the most innovative and visionary companies in the entire world. Disney is committed to helping fulfill DECA's mission and in doing so will work with DECA to develop annual strategies that will help to expand their relationship and seize new opportunities relevant to DECA members.

Other facets of this partnership include introducing DECA members to job opportunities, internships and learning experiences. Disney is also excited to get more involved with DECA's annual ICDC, through judging, hosting leadership academies and providing dynamic speakers.

Disney leaders are also eager to begin this important partnership because it supports each organization's missions: to develop the next generation of leaders.
