Collegiate DECA Members Prepare For Success at ICDC

Collegiate DECA members from the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) are gearing up for success at the 2014 Collegiate DECA International Career Development Conference in Washington, D.C.

The Knight Leaders, CCRI’s premier student leadership club serving students in Collegiate DECA, meet every Tuesday afternoon for a regular club meeting, followed by “Competition Camp.” Members gather together to analyze case studies and present solutions to their advisors in mock competition settings.

“It’s pretty intense,” said Shivam Patel, CCRI Collegiate DECA member. “It’s different than presenting in front of the national judges. Our advisors critique our performance and give us great feedback on our strengths and weaknesses.”

Members also mentor their peers in areas they may be struggling. “We are more like a family than a team,” says Patel. “We don’t hold back, but we lift each other up. It’s a challenge, but very rewarding.”

CCRI Collegiate DECA is ready to take the stage in D.C. this April and looking forward to meeting many other great Collegiate DECA chapters!
