NAAEI 2014 Professional Development Scholarship Program

The National Apartment Association Education Institute and DECA welcome all advisors to apply for their 2014 professional development scholarship!

The NAAEI will award five professional development scholarships to DECA (high school or collegiate) advisors. These awards will provide an invaluable experience to learn about the apartment industry, observe an apartment community in full operation and discover new techniques for enhancing the students’ experience in the classroom.

This scholarship program has two distinct components:

  1. Attendance at the 2014 NAA Education Conference and Exposition

Designed to give faculty a comprehensive understanding of the apartment industry, scholarship recipients will receive complimentary registration with travel expenses covered by NAAEI to attend this national conference, June 18-20, 2014, in Denver, Colo. Faculty will have the opportunity to participate in educational sessions, explore the exposition hall to learn about the supplier-based side of the apartment industry and attend networking events to learn directly from local apartment industry employers.

  1. Field-Based Experience

After the conference, NAAEI will arrange for faculty to spend a day touring and exploring apartment communities in close proximity to their school or home. During this tour, faculty will have the opportunity to learn from on-site staff about the many facets of apartment management, leasing and maintenance and learn about the specific skills and knowledge that would make a student successful in these career tracks.

The NAAEI scholarship can be found on NAAEI’s partnership page on the DECA website. Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. (EST), on May 2, 2014. Winners will be notified by May 16, 2014.

The National Apartment Association (NAA) is the premier trade association for the apartment industry. NAA, through its Education Institute (NAAEI), has partnered with DECA since 2008. Through our partnership, NAAEI and DECA have focused on preparing emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for the apartment industry and providing DECA advisors with industry relevant professional development opportunities.
