How to Make Your Business Research Project Shine
The 2014 International Career Development Conference will mark the third year that Collegiate DECA is offering the Business Research event sponsored by PostNet!
The Business Research event provides an excellent opportunity for you to show off your business and marketing research skills, all while working with a business or organization that you love.
Remember that your written research report is limited to 15 pages and accounts for a maximum of 50 points. The oral presentation is limited to 20 minutes that includes set-up, presentation time and judge questions. The oral presentation also accounts for a maximum of 50 points.
As you polish your Business Research project, here are a few last minute tips to help you Make It Count!
1. Practice Your Oral Presentation
Make sure you can stay within the time limit and try to not use note cards. Utilize friends, family and professors as practice judges to ask tough questions and challenge your presentation. Practicing will help you polish up your presentation for ICDC.
2. Review Your Written Research Report
Don’t lose penalty points for formatting errors or exceeding the page limit. Utilize the rubric provided for the Business Research event to make sure your proposal fits within the guidelines.
3. Create Presentation Boards
Utilize poster boards, flip books and other presentation aids to help bring your projects to life. These are great to highlight your research findings, SWOT analysis and proposed plan.
Good luck! The last few weeks before ICDC will be over before you know it. The Collegiate DECA National Officer Team cannot wait to see your finished projects at ICDC!
