Reflecting on the Past

Former Massachusetts DECA association officer Tom Eaten, and former King Philip DECA chapter presidents Liz Arico and Shannon Porier, vice presidents Tory Atkins and McKenna May and event coordinator Jess Sabino, paid current King Philip DECA members a visit on the Friday before winter break.

The King Philip DECA alumni reflected on their time as members and shared how the program influenced their futures, as well as how DECA helped them with life skills, such as public speaking and professionalism. They also shared their personal secrets to success since each competed in DECA’s international level as members.

Tory Atkins shared with the chapter how DECA led her to success at James Madison University, where her peers are constantly asking for her advice on public speaking and professional dress.

Jess Sabino gave her own advice to the senior members, tell them to take their last year in high schools seriously and strive for success in DECA.

“Do it for you, there are more reasons to work hard than there are to not,” Sabino stated.

McKenna May, Shannon Porier and Tom Eaten shared tips with the juniors and seniors to ensure their success in competition this year.

King Philip DECA is fortunate to have such a dedicated alumni network and their words of wisdom will surely be taken advantage of.
