University of Chicago Collegiate DECA Holds Regional Case Competition

The University of Chicago Collegiate DECA chapter held a regional case competition, in partnership with Accenture Consulting, the weekend of November 9, 2013.

This competition had three categories — management, marketing, and finance — with cases written by Accenture representatives. Over 80 competitors from five different universities were in attendance. Those universities represented included:

  • University of Chicago
  • Illinois Institute of Technology
  • University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
  • Northwestern University
  • Loyola University

Volunteers from Accenture and the Booth School of Business, as well as industry professionals also served as judges for the competition.

The event consisted of an opening session and presentation by Accenture, followed by the competition and individual/team presentations. After awards were given out, DECA organized a networking session with the judges and members, so attendees had an opportunity to explore different career options and to learn about the consulting field.

The event was an excellent way for students to practice their analytical, public speaking and presentation skills.

The University of Chicago Collegiate DECA board, led by co-presidents, Raymond Dong and Victoria Huang, organized the event. If anyone has questions or would like to collaborate for a future event, please contact Raymond Dong.
