#DECAELS Takes Over Capitol Hill

Some of DECA’s most exceptional chapter and association leaders were in Washington D.C. for the 2014 Emerging Leader Summit last week and took DECA all the way to Capitol Hill.

On Wednesday, July 24, 2013, attendees were giving the opportunity of a lifetime to tour Capitol Hill and see firsthand where some of our country’s greatest leaders make powerful decisions. This was an eye opening experience for sure, but one that will motivate these young leaders throughout their year in office.

Here's a peek at what some of the attendees had to say about their experience:

@acschantz: Starting off my morning on the hill w/ ‪@decainc for the last day of ‪#DECAELS

@emdales23: DECA takeover on Capital Hill ‪#DECAELS ‪@DECAInc

@ArizonaDECA: Thank you to ‪@SMaria1L and the other ‪@DECAInc ‪#DECAELS Capitol speakers for their time at Closing Session! ‪#WeLoveWednesday

@DECA_apoorva: Hearing the amazing speakers at the Capitol makes me want to work here someday ‪#DECAELS

@CaliforniaDECA: The state officer team outside the Capitol! The Capitol tour and speakers were amazing! #DECAELS

While visiting the Capitol Building, attendees met with some of the country’s most influential leaders. Maria Lohmeyer, Director of Public Liaison for the Speaker of the House, was the key presenter and provided the National Officer Team with a personal tour of the Capitol building. Ted Daniel, Director of Special Events and Protocol, and Olga Ramirez Kornacki, Director of the Radio/TV Gallery, also spoke to the officer team and other DECA members in attendance.
