DECA National President Update, March 2013

“Do something every day that scares you.”

I read this quote each time I walked into my high school marketing classroom, and it has stuck with me ever since. How are you going to challenge yourself as you head into your conferences and ICDC? What does it take to get to that next level and what are you willing to do to get there?

March is one of my favorite times of the year. It is where all your hard work is put to the test, so make sure you are putting in extra effort next few weeks to make yourself proud. I want to hear if you are going to ICDC! Tweet me @decamorgant and I’ll share with you some of the exciting highlights that will be taking place in Anaheim, California!

Finish Line DECA Dash Fun Run

Get ready for the third annual Finish Line/DECA Dash Fun Run/Walk! This year’s dash not only welcomes runners, but it also includes a short course for walkers and a fun fair for non-running participants who can still enjoy the atmosphere! The dash reinforces our guiding principle that DECA members are community oriented, as all proceeds benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association and DECA’s scholarship fund. Whether you run, walk or just join us for some fun, come support this great cause!

CTE Month Hangout

To celebrate Career and Technical Education Month, the national presidents of each career and technical student organization united to share their experiences and talk about their organization. It served as a unique way to bring each group together and promote education. Visit the DECA YouTube channel to watch the CTSO Google+ Hangout now!

DECA Goes Global

This past summer, eight DECA members and two advisors had the opportunity of a lifetime. They were able to visit China for a 10-day learning rendezvous that immersed them into Chinese culture and blended together education, adventure and DECA. Partnering with People to People Ambassador Programs, DECA members observed traditional businesses like a silk factory, learned from experts on international business and emerging technology, hiked along the majestic Great Wall of China, interacted with DECA members and so much more. Learn more about taking part in DECA Goes Global 2013 here.
