Advocacy Month 2013: Obtaining Legislators’ Support

In order for Career and Technical Education programs to continue operating effectively, they rely stronger on federal and state funding. However, this does not mean that advocates for CTE should solely depend on the government to decide how much funding CTE deserves each year.

Take a stand and reach out to your state legislators! The only way your state representatives will know how important funds for CTE are is by showing him just how amazing Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) are!

This presentation will discuss the governments impact on CTE and CTSOs, why legislators are the best audience to reach for advocacy, and how to best go about reaching out to your local or state legislators in order to advocate for CTE.
