Beyond Fashion: Pitch A Clothing, Health, Food or Entertainment Concept in the New FIDM Challenge
DECA Inc. is pleased to bring you another year of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) Challenge. The FIDM Challenge asks students to create an entrepreneurial proposal for a new product idea for a specific market segment.
This year, students have more flexibility than ever before regarding the concept of their new product. Participants can now pitch a new clothing, beauty, home, health, food or entertainment concept in a video presentation describing the target market, product offering with relevant benefits, marketing launch strategy and more.
The challenge is open to all high school DECA members. Students may participate individually or in a team of up to three members of a DECA chapter.
Participants will research the marketplace and then propose an entrepreneurial product to bring to the market. Participants may spend no more than $25.00 to create a prototype and develop a marketing and distribution strategy. Participants will present their findings to FIDM executives and instructors in a YouTube video that is a maximum of four minutes long. See challenge guidelines for presentation and evaluation information.
Entries are to be submitted online by February 2, 2018.
FIDM will evaluate all submissions. The top three teams will be recognized on stage at DECA’s International Career Development Conference (ICDC)and will be awarded a travel stipend to attend ICDC. Students participating in the FIDM Challenge may also compete in a DECA competitive event at ICDC. See challenge guidelines for ICDC eligibility.
