My Classroom Economy is Ready to Help You this Year

My Classroom Economy

WHAT IS THE FINANCIAL LITERACY PROMOTION PROJECT (FLPP)?

Looking to take on a DECA project for the 2017-2018 school year? Consider the Financial Literacy Promotion Project (FLPP) in creating a campaign to increase financial literacy in your school systems! Utilize the tools and resources already created by My Classroom Economy (MCE) to promote these critical concepts in your local community and surrounding areas.

LET US TELL YOU ABOUT MY CLASSROOM ECONOMY

My Classroom Economy (MCE) is an established classroom management tool that promotes the understanding of financial literacy concepts through experiential learning. Students “rent” their desks, strive to earn bonuses and avoid fines, participate in auctions, and, in upper grades, make simulated investments in stocks and bonds. The program emphasizes learning to budget and save and demonstrates the value of delayed gratification. Learn more here.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Begin by creating a promotional / marketing plan to encourage teachers to adopt this program within their own classrooms! Be creative and utilize the resources already established on the MCE website.

To learn more about MCE and its partnership with DECA, contact Savannah Bower at savannah_bower@vanguard.com. We also invite you to visit myclassroomeconomy.org.

Unlike some other financial literacy initiatives, MCE has a full infrastructure in place, complete with staff and resources. We hope you’ll help us spread the word through the DECA network of advisors and students, and track adoption of the program as it continues to expand. We’re thrilled to work with you!
