Andres Montero is a junior at Spanish River High School. He’s taking classes such as marketing and legal business aspects, and is now a two-year member of the Spanish River DECA chapter.

In this article, I will be spotlighting how a Spanish River DECA member has received hands on experience in the business world.

Montero is the Sales Manager for BizChargers in Boca Raton, Fla. His job entails selling customized mobile phones charging stations and portables to businesses. As a former marketing student, Montero is able to take advantage of the skills he has developed through DECA and his classes in order to be successful in the world of sales.

You may be wondering how Montero was able to obtain this position? The answer to this is surprisingly simple yet powerful.

Montero took advantage of what is known as networking. Montero states that, “[My] girlfriend’s brother is one of the owners of the company. I decided to show him my skills, and once I did, it just happened.”

Montero’s skills will hopefully allow him to pursue his goal of becoming an entrepreneur and business owner in his future.
