Dance Parties and Pin Trading at DECA Party at Universal Studios Hollywood

The energy at the DECA Party at Universal Studios Hollywood during the 2017 DECA International Career Development Conference was electrifying.

As soon students walked off the buses, Universal became the epicenter of networking, dancing, and thrills. Walking into the park, members were greeted with DJ’s blasting the latest hits and multiple photo booths for the perfect opportunity to flash their DECA diamond.

I started off my journey by eating (of course), at Cletus’ Chicken Shack, one of the many restaurants open for this exclusive event. With the meal voucher included with our tickets, all DECA Party attendees received a free entree, drink and a dessert! The food was amazing and tasted even better because we shared the experience will all of our DECA friends.

The rides at Universal were thrilling, every twist and turn had members screaming in anticipation. A plethora of Universal characters were among the party, interacting and dancing with us, giving us the full experience.

There were no lines for pictures, low lines for food, and less than 15-minute wait times for all rides! The Harry Potter & The Forbidden Journey ride was sadly delayed shortly after I stepped in line, but little did I know this was a great opportunity to own my future. While waiting for the ride to start again, members networked and traded pins allowing us to create strong connections and pass the time.

Later on in the night, members enjoyed the delicious Butter Beer that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is known for, with short lines and another opportunity for networking in the common areas.

By the end of the night, members created a large dance circle in Springfield and danced the night away. It was a truly unrivaled experience and a night full of meeting new people, sharing DECA stories, and enjoying what the wonderful Universal Studios had to offer.
