Enrich Your Hospitality Education Experience with Virtual Hotel Simulation

Three strong hospitality-industry partners, the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute, Knowledge Matters, and Marriott International, have combined forces to help educate the hospitality superstars of tomorrow – DECA’s high school hospitality students.

The simulation is an ideal addition to any hospitality classroom, and for those using AHLEI’s Hospitality and Tourism Management Program high school curriculum, the simulation can substitute for the internship required to earn the Certified Hospitality and Tourism Management Professional (CHTMP) designation.

Virtual Business – Hotel: The simulation teaches students the many aspects of running a successful full-service hotel – room pricing, marketing and public relations, group sales, housekeeping, front desk and customer service, and much more. The sim was developed with the support of the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation and Marriott International, the largest lodging company in the world.

Internship exemption: Students enrolled in AHLEI’s HTMP high school curriculum can opt out of the 100-hour internship requirement by completing the Virtual Business Hotel Online simulation powered by Knowledge Matters.

Developed by hospitality experts: Both the simulation and the HTMP curriculum were developed with input from hospitality experts—students get an in-depth knowledge of the tasks and skills required to build a hospitality career.

During the 2017 DECA International Career Development Conference, register to win one of three Knowledge Matters Virtual Business Hotel Online Simulation licenses. These five-year licenses (for use by up to 30 students) are a $1,695.00 value.
