Using Snapchat Geofilters to Grow Your Chapter
Did you know that seven out of 10 students at colleges/universities are on Snapchat? Also add in the fact that for as little as $5, you can quickly advertise your club to hundreds of other students with little effort. I’m not sure about you but that is pure music to my ears, so I had to act on it.
The filter that is being used in the picture on the right was used 162 times and rallied up 12,444 views for $5.
To have similar success, you have to be strategic. This filter was applied during the involvement fair, where I knew literally hundreds of students wanting to join clubs will be. To have the most bang for your buck, be sure to place filters over places where and when you know a lot of those in your target market will be.
You also need to consider some kind of design that would be shared by people other than yourself. We lucked out a bit, because there were no other filters that day that had to do with the involvement fair. Not many other clubs on campus are using filters, so don’t be surprised to have the same case apply to when you create your first campaign.
Bonus: Why is a different club also featured on the filter? To increase membership and build more awareness about our chapter, we collaborate with other clubs/organizations for events and sometimes even promotional activities.
If you don’t know how to use Photoshop, consider using websites such as pepperfilters.com to create Snapchat filter designs. The filter used in the picture above was designed on that website for $5.
