Each global winning team will receive $1,000 in addition to recognition on both the DECA Inc. and Global Entrepreneurship Week websites. A featured event of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the DECA Idea Challenge 2014 dared elementary through collegiate students around the globe to find an innovative, feasible and sustainable new use for newspaper in just eight days.

Teams of three or four students were asked to pitch their invention in a one to three-minute YouTube video presentation that demonstrated creativity, innovation and critical thinking skills in repurposing newspaper, ability to work effectively as a team and ability to effectively communicate results, among other criteria.

With over 1,700 entries this year from Canada, South Korea, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States, it was definitely a tight competition.

Congratulations to both DECA Idea Challenge 2014 global winning teams as well as every student, team and teacher who engaged in the competition! DECA Inc. is delighted with the amount of participation this year and hopes to continue to inspire creativity and entrepreneurship with this Global Entrepreneurship Week featured event.
